Homemade Ricotta
The other night I was laying in bed and thought, "I really want ravioli but I don't want to pay for the cost of it". Ricotta is fairly expensive and for a little amount. I don't remember my ending cost of the batch. I halved the recipe and it made plenty for my family. It made a wonderfully textured cheese without the sogginess.

Perfect shopping trip
So... I have been terrible with a budget lately. I don't do we'll to follow it, especially when I want to try new things like making homemade butter, buttermilk, cream cheese, sour cream, and even ricotta and farmers cheese. All these items we use daily and I was able to get all the ingredients to provide me with my two weeks portion for a great price! my grand two week total included my dinners, lunches, breakfasts and snacks, with the additional dairy products! Woot woot! It really is cheaper to make your own necessities. Now on to the fun part. I get to make all my dairy!

What He gave me
I have recently started reading "hearing from God each morning" by Joyce Meyer. It's a devotional book that has really helped me since moving from all my family in Tri cities to Moses Lake... Anyway, I accidentally read May 1st a day ahead( i think by no accident really). It was titled "God speaks through gifts and abilities". Proverbs 16:9 says " A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."
I have always wondered what God put me on this earth to do. I know I draw well and enjoy it most of the time. But, it has become one of those things I don't care to do as often. I have always loved baking and cooking and homemaking. And i have to say I think I'm pretty good at it too. Being a homesteading type is my dream come true. After I finished the reading, I prayed. I asked God for direction and understanding. Suddenly, I got this urge to make something. This whole week I have been baking cookies, homemade tortillas and pita pockets. I feel I have found my calling. They have turned pit so well lately and its been an enjoyable process. I don't know exactly what God's plan is with it, but I figured I would like to tell about it along the way.
